PAT Testing (Portable Appliance Testing) distance learning course is for candidates who wish to complete PAT Testing qualification while studying at their convenient time and pace. The course allows candidates to study at their own speed at home through the material provided and practice questions provided by us. Along with these materials candidates are required to purchase the “Code of Practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment” 4th edition book. This book will further ensure that students gain the required information in order to pass the examination. The course fees of £50+ VAT includes study material and practice questions only. Once the individuals have completed the course at home they would be required to come to our centre for formal practical and theory assessments. The charge for formal assessments is £150 + VAT. It is based upon the students deciding which awarding body they would like to go for being EAL or City and Guilds. |

Course Content |
This is a course that covers the skills and knowledge required to carry out the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment. This Award has one unit which covers: statutory and non-statutory requirements, electrical units, equipment construction, inspection and testing theory, practical inspection and testing of equipment and completion of documentation. In detail, the following topics are covered: 1. Electrical Safety 2. Regulation’s role and responsibilities 3. Insulation and earthing 4. Classification of appliances 5. Preliminary inspection, test precautions 6. Using a Portable Appliance Tester 7. Essential tests 8. Optional tests 9. Labelling tests 10. Reporting and recording results 11. Implementing a test programme 12. Practical Assessment Followed by numerous practice questions to boost confidence and get the students to familiarise themselves with the exam methodology. |
