European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) has a requirement that domestic dwellings require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) to enable a measure of the energy efficiency of a property. Communities and Local Government (CLG) has introduced measures in England and Wales to implement legislation in the Housing Act 2004 that qualified domestic energy assessors (DEA's) are required to inspect properties and provide EPC's, who can produce EPC's A domestic energy assessor, accredited to produce EPC's for that type of building, is the only person who can produce the required EPC. DEA's will require an approved qualification and have a license to practice as a DEA
Energy Assessors in both the Residential and Commercial arena KE Training provides training. KET is affiliated with approved by City & Guilds centre. We work closely with Licence and Accreditation companies to ensure that learners are ready for the market to gain employment or succeed in obtaining business.
A course of 5 days Online training and further study/inspections are required. The progress is totally up to the learner, and we will help progress learners to achieve their goals on a fast track.
Do I have to produce a portfolio?
All learners produce a portfolio of evidence that they have acquired the required knowledge and have carried out 5 inspections to the standard. The external verifier from City & Guilds checks this before they will issue certificates.

What is the Top-Up course and why do I need it?
The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) requires that any DEA practising after April 2012 has passed this up-skill test. The qualification covers the knowledge required to continue practising as a DEA after this deadline.
Do I need to complete a portfolio for the Top-Up course too?
No there is no portfolio to be completed for the Top-up course, but there is an exam. All learners will need to undertake a 1-hour on-line examination set by City & Guilds to demonstrate that they can evidence that they have acquired the required knowledge of the new requirements for EPCs after April 2012 and knowledge of the Green Deal.
KE Training is an approved centre to deliver courses with EAL . For courses with City and Guilds accreditation we work with partner centre which are approved by City & Guilds to offer these courses.
No previous qualifications or experience is required; however, you must have basic computer skills as all assessors must input data into a software program txso produce the energy performance certificate.
