This course is designed for qualified electricians looking to enhance their skills in the initial verification of electrical installations.
- Candidates must hold a relevant Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification.
- This course is not suitable for individuals new to the industry or those without sufficient experience in inspection and testing.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
Course Content
The course provides comprehensive training on the principles, practices, and legal requirements for the initial verification of electrical installations, including:
- Requirements for initial verification in compliance with BS 7671 and IET Guidance Note 3.
- Safe isolation procedures and safety management during inspection and testing.
- Inspection requirements and procedures for electrical installations.
- Practical testing techniques, including continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance, RCD tests, and functional testing.
- Completion of certification and documentation for electrical installations.
Assessment
- Online Multiple Choice Test (Unit 2391-050): 40 questions, open-book, 90 minutes. Pass mark approximately 75%.
- Practical Assignment (Unit 2391-500): Hands-on inspection and testing of electrical installations, including completing associated documentation.
